Our approach was based on the coffee culture in the surrounding neighborhood, but we also wanted to create another distinctive spot on Brno's gastronomic map. We have vowed not to be swayed by trends and make our design very practical and pragmatic. This is reflected in the positioning of the bar counter, as well as reduction of equipment to essentials, without a single functionless item.
A large storefront window offers an inviting view of a large bar counter, upstairs seating, and remarkable unity of style. The unity was achieved thanks to the recycled plastic from Brno’s very own Plastic Guys, which we internally call “cappuccino with coffee grounds at the bottom“. The material is used for every single piece of furniture, from the bar counter to flowerpots, all of this in combination with ash wood, which is more prominent in the mezzanine. However, cooperation with Brno artisans doesn’t end here—we designed our own lights with curved plexiglass shades. These were created for Punkt. by another Brno café owner and light magician, Jan Novotný.
